To figure out your perfect size, you will have to measure your head. To do this, you can use a tailor's tape measure that can be found at most drug or grocery stores. To start measuring, place the end of the tape measure at your front hairline. Then, move the tape around your head, over your left ear, and across the nape of your neck or back hairline. Next, move the tape around the right side, over your ear, and bring it up to the front again. This measurement will give you the circumference of your head. However, if you plan to purchase a custom-made item, you will need to take four additional measurements.

Choose The Right Cap Construction
Lace Front Wigs
These wigs feature a transparent lace front panel that creates the appearance of a natural hairline. Both synthetic and real hair options are available.
Monofilament Wigs
These wigs feature a transparent lace front panel that creates the appearance of a natural hairline. Both synthetic and real hair options are available.
Silk Wigs
Silk wigs are wigs made from the durable and comfortable material silk. The silk material is hypoallergenic and breathable, allowing for versatile styling options and a natural-looking scalp. Nonetheless, silk wigs are relatively costly due to the expense of their materials and construction.
Fully hand-tied Wigs
100% hand-tied wigs are constructed entirely by hand, with each hair strand being individually knotted to a lace or mesh cap. This creates a natural appearance because the hair is free to move and the scalp is visible through the cap. Hand-tied wigs are more costly than machine-made wigs, but they are also more comfortable and durable.
Choose The Right Color
Finding the perfect wig color can be a daunting task, but there are several key factors to keep in mind when making your decision:
Choose the right Length & Density
LENGTH
To ensure the best fit, it is recommended that you use a measuring tape to measure from the center part of your hair to the ends. It is advisable to order a wig that is 1-2 inches longer than your dream hair length. This will allow you to restyle the wig as needed, and also account for the natural curve of your head.
DENSITY
Hair density refers to the thickness of the hair. Choosing the right density depends on personal preference. Some people prefer a bit more volume, while others like a more natural look, and some people want a glamorous, full-volume style like that of red-carpet stars.
The table below illustrates different hair densities and their outcomes:
HAIR DENSITY | HAIR OUTCOME |
---|---|
Light to medium | 100% - 120% - This hair density is similar to the one above, where the scalp is visible when the hair is parted. This density is suitable for women aged 65 or above. |
Medium | 130% - This is a standard hair density that is currently trending in the wig market. |
Medium to heavy | 150% - This is the typical hair density that works best for women in their 20s, 30s, and even 40s. |
